Project Overview

Shifa International Hospital - Islamabad is region’s leading healthcare service provider. Shifa International Hospital is committed to providing cost effective quality medical care to all patients. To continuously improve patient satisfaction, Shifa continually looks for ways to improve all areas of the health care process, including the vital technology infrastructure that supports the health care network.


To ensure that the hospital staff has 24/7 access to necessary tools and important information, Shifa Intl. decided to build a new datacenter. Shifa Intl. needed a dependable partner and chose Cloud9 after a rigorous RFP process.

The existing facility had many limitations as it wasn’t designed for housing a datacenter infrastructure which requires a higher load bearing capacity per square foot and enough height to support false ceiling and raised floor. Cloud9’s team had to take that into consideration for the air flow as well and the placement of outdoor units, the fire alarms, and then balancing that out with all the cable ladders and the racks.


The buildings’ infrastructure, dimensions and periphery was carefully assessed, followed by a comprehensive design decision process that tailored the power and density distribution, room layout, and cabling strategies to perfect data center footprint to make the most of what the facility had to offer.


The design, that Cloud9 Networks team recommended to Shifa, included APC (by Schneider Electric) network and server racks with hot aisle containment and InRow cooling, to maximize cooling efficiency and optimize power consumption. This containment method of heat management completely isolates hot exhaust air and channels it back into the air conditioning unit.


During the whole process Cloud9’s team ensured uninterrupted continuation of existing IT operations without any downtime.
